Chris Hawkins Jewellery

Chris Hawkins designs and produces his stunning range of premium men's jewellery from a converted 19th century coach house in Brighton on the south coast of England. He completed a five-year apprenticeship at the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths which has given him the ability to create jewellery using traditional and technical skills. This, along with his individual style of design has resulted in a unique and bold men's jewellery range.

After completing his apprenticeship and traditional training with the Goldsmiths, Jonathan Swann in 1994, Brighton based and British designer Chris Hawkins began to design, create and evolve his men's jewellery collection. His distinct style has enabled his jewellerycollection to set a precedent within jewellery design; the bold and masculine qualities separate and distinguishes the entire range as his own and for men.

It is the natural world that has become a major influence within the work of Hawkins. It is incorporated throughout the entire range; the unique shapes and textures found in nature are displayed through such collections as the 'Mako'. Aptly named after the Mackerel Shark the jewellery is inspired by the '...perfectly evolved beauty of natures predators'. This concept is portrayed through such pieces as the 'Shark Tooth' necklace or the 'Mako' bracelet, with textured surfaces and ruthenium coated silver the technical and inspired design of Chris Hawkins is shown.

The sculptural qualities of such natural formations as Glaciers or the Ocean are also factors which have inspired Chris Hawkins to produce and create men's jewellery design. Reflecting the bold lines and solid structures of such significant natural forms such collections as the 'Aquatic' or the 'Glacier' have been created. The use of solid 925 silver and technical silver-smithing skills collections such as the 'Antenna and 'Stingray' offer masculine and bold pieces which are enhanced by oxidisation of the recesses within the design and unique style links, much like the 'Lozenge' or 'Wave Two' bracelet.
