'Inspired by the perfectly evolved beauty of natures predators' is the fundamental concept in which Brighton based, British designer Chris Campbell has based his phenomenal men's jewellery range upon. The 'Mako' necklace is part of the Mako collection which has been aptly named after the Mackerel Shark. The silhouette, predatory features and natural biology has influenced the designs within the collection to create such pieces as the 'Mako'.
The 'Mako' men's necklace is constructed from solid 925 silver. The 85g/3oz allows the necklace to hang with a substantial weight around the neck. The 50cm long chain is made up from 8mm long, 6mm deep and 3mm wide oval links which forms a Rolo chain. The chain fastens securely using a subtle lobster clasp which has been blended well within the links.
Suspended from the textured and dominant chain is a 4cm long and 1.8cm wide, solid, 925 silver pendant. The pendant has been designed and cut with a seamless, abstract style shape of the silhouette of the Mackerel shark. The pendant is connected to the chain using a 1.8cm long and 3mm wide silver bail.
It is the finish of the silver throughout the entire necklace that completes the identifiable piece from Hawkins. The recesses of both the silver men's pendant and chain have been finished with a soft oxidisation process, darkening the surface of the matte silver. This technique highlights and individualises the necklace by giving it a masculine and prominent finish.
